Best Moon Calendars and Astrology Calendars: Phases, Moon Signs and the Month Read Whole

The best moon calendar shows three things without making you work for them: the phase, the Moon's sign, and the exact times in your time zone. Astro-Seek's moon calendar does all three on one page and adds the year's full and new Moons. Cafe Astrology's moon phases calendar is the clean printable version with a weekly overview beside it. TimePassages carries Moon phases inside its app next to your own chart. And Cosmic Patterns is the odd one out on purpose: the Monthly Pattern Report does not list the phases, it reads them, together with the month's transits, for your sign.

This comparison sorts the calendars by what they show, how exact they are, and whether they leave you with a date or with a plan.

What a moon calendar can tell you, in numbers

The Moon completes a cycle in about 29.5 days, so most years have 12 full Moons and some have 13. It changes sign roughly every two and a half days, which means it passes through all 12 signs each month and touches every planet in your birth chart along the way. Eight named phases divide the cycle, from new Moon through first quarter, full Moon and last quarter back to new. Each phase is a moment in universal time, so a full Moon at 02:10 in Berlin is the evening before in Los Angeles; a calendar that converts to your time zone saves you the arithmetic.

A calendar that stops at phases is astronomy. A calendar that adds the Moon's sign is where astrology starts: a full Moon in Aries and a full Moon in Libra fall in the same month of the year six months apart and ask very different things. And a reading that says which of your own placements the Moon lights up this month is where a calendar turns into a pattern.

    1. Astro-Seek Moon Calendar: phases, signs and times on one page, free

What it offers: The Moon Phase Calendar shows each day's phase and Moon sign with exact times, and the full and new Moons of 2026 page lists the year's lunations with the sign of each. It is free and it is complete.

Best for: Anyone who wants the astronomical and astrological facts of the Moon in one place, with the year laid out.

Trade-off: It is a table. It tells you that the full Moon is in Pisces on a given date; what a Pisces full Moon does to your chart is not its job.

your Big 3 is the pattern you keep living.

Start with birthday and email. Your Sun, Moon and Rising, read together. Free, on this page and in your inbox.

    2. Cafe Astrology: a printable moon phases calendar and the week written out

What it offers: The Moon Phases Calendar gives the phases in calendar form, and This Week in Astrology walks through the week's lunar and planetary movements in writing.

Best for: A calendar you can print and a weekly page that explains what the Moon is doing in words.

Trade-off: The weekly writing is general, for everyone at once. It does not know your chart.

    3. TimePassages: the Moon's phases beside your own chart

What it offers: TimePassages mobile documents Moon phase features alongside its natal and transit functions, so you can see the current Moon against your own wheel rather than on a separate calendar.

Best for: Someone who already uses a chart app and wants the Moon inside it.

Trade-off: It is one feature in a chart tool, not a calendar built for the Moon, and it interprets placements rather than weighing a month.

    4. Cosmic Patterns Monthly Pattern Report: the Moon read into the month, for your sign

What it offers: The Monthly Pattern Report reads every major transit, Moon phase and timing window of the month for your sign as one pattern: which new Moon is the one to start something on, which full Moon brings the answer, and which weeks between them are for waiting. It is one edition, yours to keep, currently $1, down from $4.99, purchased once with no automatic renewal.

Best for: Someone who has the dates and wants to know what to do with them. And for the person who circles the full Moon in their calendar every month and still cannot say what it was about.

Trade-off: It is read for your sign, so it speaks to your Sun; the Birth Chart is where the Moon's exact place in your chart is read. It is a monthly reading, not a calendar; keep Astro-Seek's page beside it for the exact times.

How to use a moon calendar so it changes something

    1. Find the two dates that matter. Each month has one new Moon and one full Moon (occasionally two). Everything else is texture.
    2. Note the sign, not just the phase. A full Moon in your own Sun sign or its opposite is a different month from one in a sign your chart barely uses.
    3. Convert the time. Lunations are moments in universal time. A calendar that shows your time zone keeps you from planning around the wrong day.
    4. Start on the new Moon, decide on the full. That is the oldest use of the cycle and still the most practical one.
    5. Read the month once, then follow the Moon through it. The calendar tells you when; a reading for your sign tells you what the when is for.

    Which one should you use?

If you want the exact phases and Moon signs for free, Astro-Seek's moon calendar is the complete page. If you want something to print and a weekly explanation, Cafe Astrology. If you want the Moon inside your chart app, TimePassages.

If you want to know what this month's Moons are asking of you, start with the Monthly Pattern Report: every transit hitting your sign this month, the Moon phases and the timing windows, read as one pattern and yours to keep. Some part of you already feels which full Moon is the one; the report tells you why, and what to do in the weeks before it.

If you are new to your own chart, the free Big 3 reading is the first step, and moon sign explained covers what your natal Moon is before you follow the transiting one. Your month is read before you live it: every transit that touches your sign, every moon phase, every shift that matters. The sky ahead, already leaning your way.

    frequently asked

What is the best moon calendar for astrology?

For the facts, Astro-Seek's moon calendar: each day's phase and Moon sign with exact times, plus the year's full and new Moons by sign, free. Cafe Astrology's moon phases calendar is the printable version with a weekly overview. For what the Moons mean for your sign this month, the Cosmic Patterns Monthly Pattern Report reads them into one pattern.

How often does the Moon change signs?

About every two and a half days. Over one cycle of roughly 29.5 days the Moon passes through all 12 signs, which is why it touches every planet in your birth chart every month.

How many full Moons are there in a year?

Usually 12, sometimes 13, because the lunar cycle of about 29.5 days is shorter than most calendar months. When two full Moons fall in one calendar month, the second is commonly called a blue Moon.

What is the difference between a moon calendar and a monthly horoscope?

A moon calendar tells you when the phases fall and in which sign; it is the same for everyone. A monthly horoscope reads what those phases and the month's transits mean for a sign. The calendar gives you the dates; the reading gives you the shape of the month between them.

Does the Cosmic Patterns Monthly Pattern Report include Moon phases?

Yes. It reads every major transit, Moon phase and timing window of the month for your sign as one pattern, with the days that carry the turn. One edition, purchased once with no automatic renewal, yours to keep. The current price is on the report page.
